Job Description

Canadian National Security Solutions (CNSS) is seeking a Loss Prevention Officer to join our team! You will be responsible for implementing procedures and systems to prevent merchandise loss.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and patrol premises to detect and locate suspected shoplifters
  • Safely recover assets and make apprehensions
  • Identify issues of operational errors and policy violations
  • Investigate and resolve various fraud and theft cases
  • Assist in the development of policies and systems for safeguarding assets

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in surveillance, loss prevention, or other related fields
  • Familiarity with retail security equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Emergency First Aid Level C and CPR certificate.
  • A reliable method of transportation.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of loss prevention experience (all of our LP work is based on arrests)
  • Must be fluent in English speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Excellent health and physical condition
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to maintain log sheets and write down all incident reports.
  • Be able to work between 5 and 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to pass the criminal record check.
  • Some understanding/knowledge of applicable laws
  • Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 period

Knowledge of Canadian Law, with respect to Sections 494, 25, and 26 of the Criminal Code, the Ontario Trespass Act, and Sections 7, 8, 9, and 10 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms,

To be physically and mentally capable of performing lawful arrests. These arrests may require a "hands-on" approach. With safety always being the main priority these forms of arrest can be dangerous for all parties and must be executed in a safe, lawful, and meticulous matter.

With integrity and diligence arguably being among the top traits of a Loss Prevention Officer, the selected candidate's ethics will constantly be challenged. This will commonly be experienced through ensuring proper policy protocol is being followed, keeping vigilant at all times- theft or fraud can happen any second, and honest unbiased reports.
