Role Summary

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and improving packaging solutions for toys and related products. The role ensures packaging provides adequate product protection, complies with domestic and international regulations, supports efficient manufacturing, optimizes cost, and enhances customer experience while maintaining brand standards.

1. Packaging Design & Development

• Design and develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for toys and accessories.
• Develop packaging structures including cartons, corrugated boxes, blister packs, clamshells, inserts, trays, window boxes, gift packs, and display packaging.
• Determine optimum packaging dimensions, material specifications, and protective features.
• Create packaging solutions for new product launches, variants, combo packs, and promotional packs.
• Ensure packaging is suitable for transportation, warehousing, retail display, and e-commerce distribution.

2. Packaging Engineering & Validation

• Select appropriate packaging materials considering strength, durability, appearance, sustainability, and cost.
• Develop packaging specifications, material standards, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct drop, compression, vibration, stacking, and transportation simulation tests.
• Validate packaging before commercial production.
• Investigate packaging failures and implement corrective actions.

3. Packaging Artwork & Production Support

• Coordinate with the Graphic Design team for packaging artwork development.
• Review die-lines, dimensions, print layouts, and artwork placement.
• Coordinate with suppliers for artwork approval, proofs, and print quality.
• Maintain packaging specifications and revision records.

4. Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with BIS, IS 9873, EN71, ASTM F963, Legal Metrology, and export requirements.
• Verify mandatory declarations including MRP, manufacturer details, country of origin, batch number, age grading, warnings, barcode, and QR code.

5. Cost Optimization & Sustainability

• Reduce packaging cost without compromising protection or quality.
• Optimize board grades, flute selection, inserts, and packaging dimensions.
• Promote recyclable and sustainable packaging solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Packaging Technology, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Polymer Engineering, or Printing Technology.
• 1–3 years of experience in packaging development or packaging engineering.
• Experience in toys, consumer products, FMCG, electronics, or packaging industry preferred.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of corrugated packaging, duplex board, blister packaging, shrink packaging, offset/flexo printing, packaging testing, MS Office, and basic CorelDRAW/Adobe Illustrator.
