Job Overview
We’re seeking a dedicated Hospitality Instructor to deliver CCAB’s suite of Hospitality diploma programs—Hospitality Fundamentals; Hospitality Management; Hospitality Management with Co-op; Hospitality Sales & Marketing; Hospitality Sales & Marketing with Co-op. You’ll design and teach daily lessons, oversee practical labs and simulations, coordinate co-op placements (where applicable), prepare students for AHLEI Level 1 & 2 CHI exams and participate in continuous curriculum-improvement cycles.
What You’ll Do
- Curriculum Delivery: Develop and deliver daily lesson plans and objectives aligned to each program’s course outlines for both in-class and live-online learners.
- Practical Labs & Simulations: Supervise hands-on exercises in food & beverage service, front-office operations, housekeeping and sales activities.
- Co-op Coordination: For co-op programs, arrange and monitor student placements; track hours, objectives and conduct formal evaluations in compliance with PTIRU practicum standards.
- AHLEI Exam Preparation: Prepare students for—and administer—AHLEI Level 1 & 2 CHI exams; support their AHLEI diploma pathways.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in EQA/PTIRU-mandated curriculum reviews and recommend enhancements for continuous program improvement.
- Assessment & Records: Maintain accurate attendance, grade and certification records per PTIRU and the Private Post-Secondary Education Act.
- Student Support: Provide clear written summaries and recorded segments to reinforce learning and address student feedback professionally.
- Cross-Campus Collaboration: Assist with recruitment events, open houses, marketing materials and special projects as requested by management.
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management (or related field) or 10 years of full-time hospitality industry experience
- AHLEI CHI or CHE® designation (or willingness to obtain)
- Proven ability to design and deliver structured lessons for both classroom and live-online formats
- Provide a clear, up-to-date vulnerable-sector criminal record check
Desirable:
- Completion of PIPA Foundations (OIPC BC “Webinar 1 – 10 Basic Obligations under PIPA”; ~60 mins) within your first 90 days
- 2+ years teaching in a BC private post-secondary institution
- Experience coordinating co-op placements
- Familiarity with Moodle or similar LMS platforms
Added Value:
- Completion of W3C WAI “Introduction to Web Accessibility” MOOC (~16–20 hrs) during your 90-day probation
- Professional Development: Effective January 1, 2026, instructors delivering ≥ 20 % of program content must complete a minimum of 5 hrs annual professional development in instructional design, assessment or subject-matter currency (per PTIRU §3.2.9).
