Job Description
You will be responsible for ME, Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges development for Metals & Non-Metals at Ather. Your role will be based at IBC, Bangalore and you will be aligned with the Manufacturing Engineering - Metals team. As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering - Components and Special Processes team, you will have the following key responsibilities:
- Prepare Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges proposals in accordance with 2D drawings, 3D models, and functional assembly requirements
- Conduct stack-up analysis and DFA for all Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges
- Interpret Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges design with a focus on Assembly, Fit, and Function
- Review supplier proposals related to Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges
- Lead the resolution of assembly and other interference issues by creating proper inspection gauges
- Ensure that all gauges meet NABL requirements and review position gauges concept & pin calculations as per IS 3455 requirements
- Review fixture concepts to meet the 3, 2, 1 proposals and establish proper pickup points on parts
- Provide feedback on drawing review and internal manufacturing feasibility to the engineering team
- Identify part CTQ and process CTQ, and plan the operation sequence accordingly
- Collaborate closely with relevant suppliers and design teams to ensure parts are manufactured correctly the first time
- Address DFM with the Engineering team to ensure manufacturing feasibility
- Develop strategies for ramp-up and scale-up activities, highlighting risks and issues associated with suppliers regarding Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges
- Assist in creating a systematic inspection and development plan as per APQP
- Review fixture and gauge concepts and approve tool design kick-off
- Provide support for ramp-up plan and assist suppliers in creating line scale-up concepts
- Conduct process audits, product audits, and QMS audits, and drive closure of non-conformities with CFT related to Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
Domain Skills:
- Proficiency in Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges design & development
- Knowledge of machining operations and machine know-how
- Experience in stack-up analysis with respect to fit & function
- Familiarity with tools and experience working with multiple manufacturers
- Proficient in problem-solving using systematic approaches like PDCA, 8D, Fishbone analysis, FMEA, 5-Why
- Knowledge of APQP for development
- Experience in supplier development
Tools:
- SolidWorks
- SPC, MSA, R& R
- Drawing & Model interpretation
- Quality control tools
- Lean manufacturing tools like Kaizen, VSM, Standardization
