Job Description
You will be responsible for the development of Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges for both Metals & Non-Metals at Ather's IBC office in Bangalore. You will be aligned with the Manufacturing Engineering team focusing on Metals and will be a part of the Manufacturing Engineering team for Components and Special processes.
**Role Overview:**
- Prepare Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges proposals in accordance with 2D Drawing, 3D model, and functional (Assembly) requirements.
- Conduct Stack-up analysis and DFA for all Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges.
- Interpret Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges design with a focus on Assembly, Fit & Function.
- Review supplier proposals related to Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges.
- Lead resolution of assembly and other interference issues by creating proper inspection gauges.
- Ensure all gauges meet NABL requirements and review position gauges concept & Pin calculations as per IS 3455 requirements.
- Review fixture concepts to meet the 3,2,1 proposals and determine proper pickup points on parts.
- Provide feedback on drawing review and internal manufacturing feasibility to the engineering team.
- Identify part CTQ and process CTQ, and plan operation sequences accordingly.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers and design teams to ensure parts are manufactured correctly on the first attempt.
- Address Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with the Engineering team to ensure manufacturing feasibility.
- Develop strategies for ramp-up and scale-up activities, highlighting risks and issues associated with suppliers.
- Assist in creating a systematic inspection & development plan as per Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Review fixture and gauge concepts and approve tool design kick-off.
- Provide support for ramp-up plan and assist suppliers in creating line scale-up concepts.
- Conduct process audits, product audits, and Quality Management System (QMS) audits, driving closure of non-conformities with Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) related to Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges.
**Qualification Required:**
- Domain skills in Jigs, Fixtures & Gauges design & development, machining operation knowledge, and machine know-how.
- Proficiency in Stack-up Analysis w.r.t fit & function, tools know-how, and experience working with multiple manufacturers.
- Problem-solving skills using systematic approaches like PDCA, 8D, Fishbone analysis, FMEA, 5-Why. Knowledge of APQP for development.
- Supplier development expertise and proficiency in tools such as SolidWorks, SPC, MSA, R&R, drawing & model interpretation, quality control tools, Lean manufacturing tools like Kaizen, VSM, Standardization, DOE, and quality documentation and QMS.
