Job Description

Your Opportunity:

The Cardiac Device Clinic/Implant OR offers an exciting opportunity within the outpatient clinic setting, as well as in the Pacemaker/ICD Surgery Operating Room where you will assist with the implantation of cardiac devices. Duties include but are not limited to pre/peri-operative nursing care; device selection input, device testing/troubleshooting, comprehensive cardiac device assessments, monitoring/evaluating the effectiveness of medical interventions/lifestyle changes for patients seen in clinic as well as via telephone follow-up, addressing patient concerns, presenting clinical findings to physicians, and helping to schedule OR activity. Excellent teamwork, communication and computer skills required. With continual advancements in pacemaker therapies, the incumbent must be adaptable and committed to reviewing available resources to maintain competency in the area. Physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods of time while wearing lead, pushing/pulling/transporting more than 75 lbs on a regular basis, repetitive motions such as typing and phone usage, and lifting/bending/reaching. Experience working in a Pacemaker clinic, using Connect Care framework, and a focus on adult health education is an asset. Strong knowledge base of the cardiovascular system, heart rhythm strip analysis (12 Lead ECG), and cardiac patient management is essential. The Cardiac Device Clinic is part of a collective of Outpatient Clinics. The successful applicant is expected to work collaboratively within the team of registered nurses, cardiology technologists, physicians, clinical nurse educators, and other support staff and to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line to support and maintain high quality patient care.
