As a CA Datacom/DB Administrator at our company, your role involves performing day-to-day administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of CA Datacom/DB Multi-User Facility (MUF) and databases in a 247 production environment. You will be responsible for applying and validating Broadcom recommended service (maintenance) via SMP/E, including planning and executing quarterly recommended service upgrades.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing Datacom/DB structures such as areas, tables, indexes, SQL access, Multi-Dataset Tables, partitioning, and compression
- Performing database recoveries using Datacom forward recovery, backward recovery (Dynamic Backward Recovery), and spill/archive management
- Supporting Datacom/DB SQL access including plan management, dynamic plan selection, and optimization for both native Datacom applications and SQL-based reporting tools
- Working closely with application development teams on database design, DDL changes, and impact analysis
- Maintaining Datacom/DB security via internal security and/or integration with RACF/Top Secret/ACF2
- Managing Datacom/DB logging (LXX, RXX, PXX), checkpoint processing, and MUF startup/shutdown procedures
- Participating in disaster recovery planning and testing for Datacom environments
- Automating repetitive tasks using REXX, Datacom utilities (DBUTLTY), or other tools
- Providing on-call support (rotational) for production incidents
