Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for a Research and Development Chemist. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing formulations for skincare and personal care products, with a focus on performance, stability, safety, and sensory attributes. The R&D Chemist will plan and conduct laboratory experiments, maintain accurate records, analyze data, and prepare reports to support product development and scale-up. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams such as quality, manufacturing, and marketing, supporting technology transfer to production, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards. The chemist will also stay current with advances in cosmetic science and raw materials, contribute to innovation pipelines, and assist in troubleshooting formulation and process issues.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret experimental data, perform root cause analysis, and apply scientific problem-solving.
• Hands-on experience in Research and Development (R&D) for cosmetics, personal care, or related chemical formulations.
• Proficient laboratory skills, including formulation, blending, stability testing, and safe handling of chemicals and lab equipment.
• Knowledge of coatings or surface treatment principles relevant to skincare and personal care product performance and aesthetics.
• Experience in quality control, including test methods, documentation, and adherence to GMP and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations, safety assessment practices, and ingredient standards is beneficial.
• Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in luxury or premium skincare/personal care product development is an advantage.
