The YWCA Niagara Region provides shelter, food and assistance to women, men, gender-diverse people and families living in poverty. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for marketing and an understanding of the industry, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. This position will assist in managing and coordinating communication with donors and sponsors, donor relations, and fundraising events. Overall supports the Fundraising and Marketing department as needs arise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
- Assist in creating compelling and impactful content for various marketing channels, including social media, newsletters, websites, annual reports and other promotional materials.
- Collaborate with team members to develop engaging stories and visuals that highlight the impact of YWCA Niagara Region's programs and services.
Social Media Management:
- Aid in managing and updating social media platforms, ensuring a consistent and engaging online presence.
- Monitor social media trends, track analytics, and suggest strategies for improving online reach and engagement.
Event Support:
- Provide logistical support for fundraising events, including coordinating promotional materials, managing RSVPs, and assisting with on-site event logistics (donor and volunteer appreciation event).
- Assist in the development and execution of online and offline fundraising campaigns.
- Marketing and outreach for Coldest Night of the Year
Communication and Outreach:
- Respond to inquiries and engage with supporters through various communication channels.
- Contribute to the creation of press releases, newsletters, e-letters/e-blasts and other communication materials.
Data Management:
- Maintain and update the donor and supporter database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information with support from the donor stewardship assistant
- Assist in generating reports and analytics related to fundraising and marketing efforts.
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent grammar, writing and creative abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Interest in the community and current events surrounding our cause.
- Research capabilities.
- Satisfactory volunteer sector police clearance is mandatory.
This position is funded through the Government of Canada's Summer Jobs program. To be eligible for this position based on the requirements from the Government, you must:
- be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of job
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job and
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulation (This includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the summer job)
