Role Summary and Impact
The role is responsible for proactively managing relationships and leading negotiations with media owners, ensuring that each negotiation is executed with clear and strategic direction. This position is pivotal in shaping and driving change in how we collaborate with agencies, particularly within the Centam/Puerto Rico market. As a strategic negotiator, the incumbent will be expected to develop innovative, collaborative strategies and elevate trading community negotiations by bringing fresh perspectives and focused deal-making skills. Effective negotiation leadership will not only establish a clear strategic direction but also deliver improved net results for the business.
- Focus to take the trading community negotiations to a higher level
- Drive and develop relationships of trust and respect with the media owner contacts.
- Support agency on proper communication regarding new trading models towards clients
- Help address major issues with media owners.
- Prioritizing the workload of self and team
- Help develop client briefs through thorough understanding of client business and objectives
- Lead the clients understanding of communication planning and implementation
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of all important stakeholders of your clients business including current and potential customers, retailers/other distribution points, shareholders and workforce
- Setting and monitoring negotiation/buying targets for team members in conjunction with heads of disciplines
- Obtaining maximum value for clients’ budgets in all media negotiations leveraging added value where appropriate
- Actively seeking creative and innovative media solutions
- Manage Clients Budget/ Tracking and Forecast
- Execute all client briefs and requests in a timely, professional and efficient manner
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Media, Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Certifications in areas such as Strategic Planning, Media Analytics, or Business Management are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in media planning or marketing strategy, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven background in media negotiations, media planning, or media buying within the advertising or communications industry.
- Demonstrated experience in leading negotiations with media owners and managing key relationships.
- Experience managing teams and coordinating strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, trading community environment.
- Track record of developing and executing innovative negotiation strategies that drive value for clients.
Additional Knowledge
- Deep understanding of media trading, negotiation tactics, and the evolving dynamics of the trading community.
- Proficiency in establishing and managing relationships with media owners, ensuring trust and respect.
- Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English, with advanced proficiency required for professional interactions.
- Ability to support agencies with clear communication around new trading models and client briefs.
- Skilled in developing comprehensive communication plans and executing them effectively.
- Capacity to seek out and implement creative media solutions and strategies.
