Senior Backend Software Engineer (Remote)

Our client, a rapidly growing SaaS company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Software Engineer to join their distributed engineering team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within the US. You will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend systems and APIs that power our innovative platform. We are looking for an experienced engineer with a deep understanding of scalable architectures, database design, and best practices in software development. You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, robust, and performant software solutions. The ideal candidate is proficient in one or more modern backend languages and frameworks, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and has a passion for building elegant, efficient code. Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement scalable and reliable backend services and APIs. Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and security. Manage database schemas and ensure data integrity. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems. Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge. Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions. Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or Ruby. Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Understanding of microservices architecture principles. Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills in a remote team setting.
