Hours per Week: 35

Salary Grade: Level L

Please note, this role requires the ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs for moving incoming shipments of books, clothing and supplies, and boxing product for outgoing shipments. Additionally, pushing/pulling forces up to 115 lbs. is required to receive supplies using pallet jack.

Responsibilities

The Shipper/Receiver (Receiving Clerk), reports to the Shipping & Receiving Manager, and is responsible for the effective and efficient receiving of merchandise for the Book Store, Computer Store, General Merchandise and Books Plus. The Shipper/Receiver unloads incoming shipments from carrier vehicles, verifies accuracy of shipments and condition of goods, processes receipt of goods in Bookware, ensuring that accurate records are kept in systems and reports on errors and discrepancies from shipments as needed. The Shipper/Receiver labels and installs security devices onto products, as needed, organizes products to be directed to the sales floor, remote locations or storage and ensures that the work environment is kept clean.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • 1 year of shipping/receiving experience and with warehousing and inventory processes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and shipping/receiving processes
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate Western Retail Services’ events and activities, particularly seasonal needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
  • A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office in order to input data into spreadsheets and/or records systems with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Familiarity with software applications used by Western preferred – e.g. inventory management software (such as Bookware)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper ergonomic procedures and equipment
