Environmental Chemist

We are seeking a dedicated and technically competent Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor/O&M Engineer to oversee plant operations, laboratory testing, and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of wastewater chemistry, hands-on experience in laboratory analysis, and the ability to lead a team effectively to ensure optimal plant performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations & Supervision

• Supervise the overall operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) / Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
• Lead and manage a team of approximately 10 operators and helpers at the site.
• Monitor plant performance and assess operating conditions regularly.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance to operators and maintenance staff to improve system efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

Laboratory Testing & Analysis

• Conduct and supervise laboratory testing of sewage and effluent samples.
• Perform analysis of key water quality parameters, including:
• Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
• Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
• Ammonia
• Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
• Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
• Interpret laboratory results and recommend corrective actions to maintain treatment performance.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper testing procedures are followed.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Maintain logbooks, laboratory records, and plant performance data.
• Record all maintenance activities, operational observations, and process adjustments.
• Report plant performance, issues, and updates to the respective managers promptly.

Communication & Coordination

• Coordinate effectively with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and management.
• Communicate operational requirements and corrective actions confidently and professionally.
• Participate in meetings and provide technical updates regarding plant performance and laboratory results.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and wastewater chemistry.
• Hands-on experience in laboratory testing and analysis of wastewater samples.

Experience

• 1 to 3 years of experience in the water/wastewater treatment industry, preferably in STP, ETP, or WTP operations.
