Owner OR Writer

Role Description The Owner or Writer will hold a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, contributing to both business operations and brand storytelling. Daily responsibilities may include developing written content for menus, packaging, marketing materials, and social media, while maintaining a consistent brand voice. The role involves collaborating with the team on product launches, promotions, and events, as well as engaging with customers to understand their preferences and reflect them in the company’s messaging. The Owner or Writer may also support planning and execution of local marketing campaigns, oversee content calendars, and coordinate with designers or photographers when needed. This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset, attention to detail, and a strong interest in food, retail, and creative branding.

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing abilities, with experience crafting clear, engaging content for marketing, menus, or brand storytelling.
• Knowledge of basic marketing principles, including social media, local promotion, and customer engagement strategies.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, manage schedules, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort working on-site in a retail or food-service setting, including collaborating closely with staff and interacting with customers.
• Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to generate new ideas and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
• Previous experience in writing, communications, marketing, hospitality, or food service is beneficial but not strictly required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse colleagues and customers, and to contribute to an inclusive, welcoming workplace.
