technical Senior DataOps / Cloud Data Engineer

About The Role

Our Client is seeking a highly technical Senior DataOps / Cloud Data Engineer to support the Manager, Data Engineering & AI Enablement in building and operating production-grade data pipelines and enterprise analytics foundations.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused engineering role. We are looking for someone with strong ownership, engineering discipline, and the ability to independently design, build, optimize, and support reliable data pipelines in a modern cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Dataflows, Notebooks)
• Develop and optimize complex SQL-based transformations, data models, and curated datasets
• Build and maintain Python-based ingestion, transformation, automation, and validation logic
• Implement and operate data quality controls including validation rules, reconciliation checks, and exception handling
• Monitor production pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and resolve issues with minimal escalation
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems (CRM, ticketing platforms, telephony, operational databases)
• Maintain documentation, data lineage, and operational runbooks
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and leadership to ensure reporting standards and enterprise data governance are met

Must Have Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years hands-on experience building and maintaining end-to-end production data pipelines
• Minimum 7+ years strong engineering-level SQL expertise (complex transformations, optimization, performance tuning)
• Minimum 7+ years strong Python experience for data engineering and automation
• Demonstrated experience implementing data quality controls, monitoring, and troubleshooting independently
• Practical experience with modern cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric or similar enterprise environments)
• Ability to independently own engineering deliverables and articulate technical decisions clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (Fabric Analytics Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, Data Platform certifications)
• Experience supporting Power BI semantic models and enterprise reporting environments
• Familiarity with Git and basic CI/CD practices
• Experience working in operational or regulated environments
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
