Job Description
The Active Directory (AD) and Hyper-V Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of the organization's Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and Hyper-V virtualization environment. This role ensures secure access, optimal performance, and high availability of critical identity and virtualization services, supporting business operations and IT projects.
Key Responsibilities
Active Directory Administration
- Design, configure, and maintain Active Directory forests, domains, and organizational units (OUs).
- Manage user and group accounts, permissions, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Monitor AD health, perform regular backups, and execute disaster recovery procedures.
- Implement and maintain security policies, including password policies and access controls.
- Troubleshoot authentication, replication, and directory service issues.
Hyper-V Virtualization Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and clusters.
- Deploy, manage, and optimize virtual machines (VMs), including resource allocation and performance tuning.
- Monitor virtualization infrastructure for availability, security, and capacity planning.
- Perform regular VM backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery testing.
- Troubleshoot VM performance and connectivity issues.
- Integration & Automation
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
- Integrate AD and Hyper-V with other Microsoft and third-party systems as needed.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and regulatory requirements.
- Support & Collaboration
- Provide tier 2/3 support for AD and Hyper-V related incidents and service requests.
- Work closely with other IT teams to deliver integrated solutions and resolve cross-platform issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in administering Microsoft Active Directory environments.
- Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, MCSA, or MCSE.
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS) or other virtualization platforms (VMware).
- Familiarity with security best practices, compliance frameworks, and ITIL processes.
