Heavy Equipment Technician - Truck and Transport Mechanic

Reporting to the service manager, the mechanic is responsible for performing repair and maintenance of a wide variety of vehicles (on & off road) and heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Inspect and diagnose customer vehicles and equipment to identify repair/maintenance needs.
• Perform repair and maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles (light and heavy duty) and equipment.
• Perform Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIP)
• Ensure companies health, safety and environmental (HSE) management systems are promoted and part of the day to day activities performed on the shop floor.
• Support and encourage continuous improvement in work practices.
• Ensure a safe, clean and organized work shop.

Required Knowledge:

• Completion of high school is required.
• Red Seal or Provincial trade HD ticket (on road).
• Additional tickets would be an asset.
• CVIP ticket.
• Valid Class 5 Operators (Drivers) License.
• Valid Class 1 Operators License would be an asset.
• Clean driver’s abstract.
• Minimum 5 to 7 years experience working in a shop environment.
• Valid Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) ticket would be an asset.
• Valid OSSA ticket would be an asset.

Required Skills

• Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., ten (20) time per day
• Ability to drive in good and poor weather conditions
• Computer skills and good English writing skills to prepare work orders and inspection reports
• Effective verbal, listening, reading and writing English communication skills
• Team building skills

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a fully equipped, 10,000 square foot repair shop as well as outside and on site.
• Overtime may be required from time to time.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $59.31-$62.50 per hour
