Business Support Lead (Operations / Commercial Projects / Environmental & Construction)

Location: Mississauga, ON

An organization in the construction and environmental services space is seeking a Business Support Lead to drive operational performance, commercial initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across soil management and aggregates operations.

This is a hands-on leadership development role with real accountability, offering exposure to operations, finance, and project management within a circular economy environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Site Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations at soil receiving sites, coordinating with site teams and logistics partners
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and quality standards
  • Supervise soil intake, inspection, and placement aligned with engineering and rehabilitation plans

Commercial & Financial Support

  • Contribute to pricing analysis, project lifecycle management, and capital planning (CapEx)
  • Support P&L tracking, reporting, and business performance analysis
  • Develop insights to improve operational efficiency and profitability

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and soil management frameworks
  • Manage end-to-end tracking and documentation of soil projects
  • Maintain audit-ready records and ensure data accuracy

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between operations, commercial teams, and site stakeholders
  • Coordinate with field teams, transport providers, and leadership
  • Support integration of sustainability and circular economy practices

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

  • Promote and enforce safety standards across all work environments
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, mining, logistics, or related industries
  • Strong understanding of basic financial principles (CapEx, OpEx, margins)
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with operational or tracking systems is a plus
