Gen Ed Teacher - Washington, DC

As a dedicated Chess Teacher, you’ll motivate students across a variety of skill levels while working in multiple locations around Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience teaching in a general education or school environment
• Record of coaching or competitive play in chess, with a solid foundation in chess strategies and tactics
• Comfortable leading K-12 students, adapting lessons for different age groups and abilities
• Reliable transportation and a willingness to commute to approximately 10 different campuses
• Flexible and professional—able to manage a contract schedule of 5-10 hours per week, weekdays after school (typically between 3-6pm)
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Background clearance in accordance with school requirements

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead engaging after-school chess sessions, fostering both skill development and enthusiasm for the game
• Develop lesson plans and curriculum tailored for elementary through high school students
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to help students grow both competitively and personally
• Support and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Attend virtual interviews this week and coordinate session logistics with school staff
