Job Description
Experience
- 2-4 years in equity research, event-driven / special situations, or corporate action-based investing (buy-side or sell-side)
Key Responsibilities
- Track and analyze corporate actions & special situations across listed Indian equities (market cap = 1,000 crore) including buybacks, OFS, delistings, mergers, demergers, open offers, fund-raising, and promoter stake changes
- Evaluate the impact of events on business fundamentals, valuation, liquidity, and governance to identify alpha-generating opportunities for PMS portfolios
- Build and maintain financial/event models to assess scenarios, outcomes, and risk-reward, and contribute ideas to the PMS investment process
- Prepare and present investment theses & trade structures (timelines, triggers, exit conditions) to portfolio managers and the investment committee
- Monitor live situations, track regulatory/exchange announcements (SEBI, stock exchanges), and update the team on developments impacting active positions
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, dealers, and the research team to align event ideas with portfolio objectives, risk limits, and liquidity constraints
Skills & Competencies
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and scenario-analysis skills; proficiency in Excel and large data handling
- Good understanding of Indian equity markets, SEBI/exchange rules on corporate actions, and basic corporate governance principles
- Ability to conduct independent research, synthesize multi-source information, and convert it into actionable investment ideas
- Excellent written & verbal communication, including preparation of concise notes and crisp presentations for senior investment professionals
- High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a strong sense of timely execution in fast-moving event situations
