Job Title: Senior Engineer – Data Protection (L3 | Veritas NetBackup)

Location: Hyderabad

Experience: 8+ Years

Shift: Rotational Shifts (24/7 support model)

Notice Period: Immediate joiners or up to 15–20 days preferred

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced L3 Data Protection Engineer specializing in Veritas NetBackup (Windows & Linux). The role involves designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-grade backup and recovery solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and cyber resilience of critical data across global environments.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Solution Design & Implementation

• Design and deploy robust data protection strategies using Veritas NetBackup
• Architect scalable and secure backup solutions aligned with business needs

🔹 Backup & Recovery Operations (L3 Ownership)

• Manage and optimize backup/recovery processes across Windows & Linux environments
• Ensure data integrity, performance tuning, and high availability

🔹 Advanced Troubleshooting & Support

• Act as L3 escalation point for complex backup/recovery issues
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes

🔹 Cyber Resilience & Security

• Implement ransomware protection strategies (immutability, anomaly detection, air-gap concepts)
• Strengthen data protection posture against evolving cyber threats

🔹 Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with global clients and internal teams for solution alignment
• Support presales/architecture discussions where required

🔹 Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Create SOPs, runbooks, and best practice guides
• Mentor L1/L2 engineers and support skill development

Required Skills & Expertise

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Veritas NetBackup (mandatory)
• Strong expertise in Windows & Linux backup environments
• Proven experience in enterprise backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning
• Deep understanding of NetBackup architecture, policies, storage lifecycle, and media management
• Experience in handling L3 escalations and critical incident management
• Knowledge of cyber resilience, ransomware protection, and data security concepts
• Exposure to global support models and client-facing roles
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility to work in rotational shifts

Good to Have

• Experience with cloud backup (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Knowledge of other backup tools or storage technologies
• Scripting/automation exposure (Shell, Python, etc.)
