Job description

The Mental Health Therapist Senior reports directly to the Manager. The Mental Health Therapist Senior is responsible for the day-to-day client service delivery (development, implementation, delivery and evaluation) of the Adult and Youth Mental Health and Addictions Services Programs.

The position is required to understand the clinical theory, practice and have experience working within the Mental Health and Addition out patience services. The incumbent is responsible for creating and supporting an environment that facilitates the achievement of client care goals and the personal/professional growth and development of colleagues.

Education

  • Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Registered Nurse)

Experience

  • Two (2) years' experience relevant to the required work as determined by the employer.

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Competencies:

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
  • A strong knowledge of the Developmental Model of Recovery, the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery Services, the Motivational Assessment Process and the Policies and Procedures established by Addiction Services.
  • Ability to accurately assess addictions and or addiction related issues and make appropriate recovery plans and referrals.
  • Individual, group and crisis management/stabilization counselling skills.
  • Ability to promote healthy lifestyles in rural settings and with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery
  • Knowledge of Sask Model of Recovery Services and motivational assessment process
  • Ability to accurately assess addiction(s) and make appropriate recovery plans.
  • Ability to provide individual, group and crisis management counselling skills
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
