Job Purpose
To plan, deliver, and assess engaging guitar music lessons that develop students’ instrumental skills, musical understanding, creativity, and performance confidence in alignment with the CBSE curriculum and the school's co-curricular music program. The Instrumental Guitar Music Teacher will inspire students to appreciate music through practical learning, ensemble participation, and stage performances while fostering discipline, artistic expression, and a lifelong interest in music.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality guitar lessons for students across different age groups and skill levels in accordance with CBSE guidelines and school requirements.
- Teach both acoustic and electric guitar techniques, including posture, finger placement, strumming, picking, chords, scales, rhythm patterns, and music interpretation.
- Introduce students to music theory concepts relevant to guitar performance, including notation, tablature, rhythm, harmony, and ear training.
- Develop students' solo and ensemble performance skills through individual and group instruction.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and musical expression.
- Utilize digital music resources, audio-visual tools, and music technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Prepare students for school concerts, assemblies, competitions, cultural events, and external music examinations where applicable.
2. Curriculum Planning and Development
- Design and implement structured guitar learning programs suitable for various grade levels.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and practice exercises that cater to different learning abilities.
- Incorporate diverse musical genres, including classical, contemporary, folk, Indian, and world music traditions.
- Continuously review and update teaching strategies to align with educational best practices and student needs.
3. Student Development
- Assess students’ musical aptitude and provide differentiated instruction to support individual growth.
- Encourage regular practice habits and guide students in setting and achieving musical goals.
- Mentor students in performance preparation, stage presence, and musical confidence.
- Identify and nurture talented students for advanced training and participation in competitions and performances.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, responsibility, and appreciation for the arts through collaborative music activities.
4. Assessment and Administration
- Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments of students’ practical and theoretical progress.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance assessments, practice logs, and student achievements.
- Provide constructive feedback and progress reports to students and parents.
- Manage and maintain music resources, instruments, equipment, and rehearsal schedules.
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and upkeep of guitars and related musical equipment.
5. Co-Curricular and School Contribution
- Organize and coordinate music-related events, concerts, talent shows, annual functions, and cultural programs.
- Lead school bands, ensembles, guitar clubs, or music groups as required.
- Collaborate with teachers and school departments to support interdisciplinary projects and events.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development programs, and school initiatives.
- Uphold school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Performing Arts, or a related field.
