Telecommunications Engineer / Lead (Oil & Gas)

Role Overview

The Telecom Engineer will be responsible for the engineering of telecommunication systems across projects and proposals in diverse process industries such as Oil & Gas (offshore – Fixed Facilities & Platforms) The role encompasses ensuring quality, budget adherence, and timely delivery of telecom-related activities and deliverables. Work scope includes pre-bid engineering (man-hour estimation), Basic Engineering, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and EPC execution for telecommunication equipment and associated devices.

Key Responsibilities (SEC.1)

• Develop system specifications, design basis, philosophies, and block diagrams.
• Prepare telecom equipment lists.
• Perform technical calculations (noise analysis, amplifier load, and power consumption).
• Draft material requisitions.
• Conduct technical bid evaluations.
• Review vendor documents, including approval of FAT, IFAT, and SAT procedures.
• Create wiring diagrams and installation drawings.
• Prepare equipment/device layouts, bills of quantities (MTO), and cost estimates.
• Validate telecom device modeling within 3D environments (PDS / PDMS / SP3D).
• Participate in FAT, IFAT, SAT, vendor meetings, client meetings, and project familiarization sessions.
• Provide site engineering support during EPC execution to ensure smooth project delivery.

The engineer will work with a wide range of systems, including:

• Public Address & General Alarm Systems (PAGA)
• Telephone Systems
• Fiber Optic Communication Networks – SDH and DWDM
• Data Networks – LAN/WAN, Network Security, and IP Telephony
• Security Automation Systems – CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Perimeter Protection
• Radio Communications – VHF/UHF, Point-to-Multipoint, TETRA, Microwave Transmission
• Marine Navigation Systems
• Personal Tracking Systems
• VSAT and SCADA Telemetry
• Structured Cabling (Building and OSP networks)
