At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

Roblox is a rich ecosystem encompassing varied product categories across nearly all platforms (mobile, desktop, console, VR, etc.). Keeping our app performant, scalable, and reliable requires a robust technical architecture to empower thousands of engineers to build at scale. As the Senior Product Manager for this space, you’ll drive the creation of foundational systems like our multi-process architecture, resource management systems, and key observability frameworks that power the heart of the Roblox App.

You will:

  • Define the capabilities and inner workings of critical systems like our process lifecycle manager, asset download orchestrator and critical observability frameworks like our sessionization system.
  • Drive a multi-year roadmap to modernize our App Architecture across key themes like modularization, network resiliency, and resource efficiency. Dive deep into problem spaces with Engineering to ideate new systems to scale our App.
  • Drive the roadmap for Observability & Logging Systems. Dive deep into monitoring & triage workflows, identifying gaps to create new features and systems that extend our capabilities
  • Empower our customers. Every feature team across Roblox builds on top of the foundation we build. Work closely with them to evangelize, integrate, and migrate teams to the latest standards.
  • Write product and technical specifications to communicate requirements & behaviors of the systems we build and unblock the team to relentlessly execute.
  • Understand, influence, and expand the company’s thinking on central themes like Performance, Reliability, and Maintainability, working together with partner teams on App Performance and Infra Reliability to accomplish shared goals.
  • Work closely with many passionate internal stakeholders, engineers, designers, data scientists, and product team members.
  • Present and debate nuanced and difficult decisions with our highly engaged and visionary leadership.
  • Dive into the technical nitty-gritty, helping make the right decisions on a complex app that is shipping across every major consumer platform.
  • Grow your career with a company that is growing rapidly.

You have:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a highly technical field like computer science, software engineering.
  • Experience as a PM building platforms or highly technical products.
  • Experience as an engineer or engineering manager building platform products, managing migrations and designing complex systems.
  • Experience owning and driving roadmaps for teams that span multiple feature areas

You are:

  • A Product or Engineering Manager with a history of driving platforms with large and deeply technical scope.
  • Experienced, with 5-7 years of product management experience or equivalent and a history of building scalable and extensible platforms operating at mass scale.
  • Analytical, with experience digging deep into profiling or debugging complex problems.
  • Highly technical, comfortable with delving into individual features, the overall system, and implementation details. You’re capable of going beyond user needs to define the behavior of technical systems and integrate them to form a broader platform.
  • An excellent communicator and documenter, with fantastic listening, verbal, and written communication skills. You’re at home understanding and communicating overarching vision and architecture and diving into technical specifications, individual tradeoffs, and priorities
  • Entrepreneurial, having worked in a fast paced environment, with competing resources and priorities, through the product life cycle from planning, development, through to launch and continuing support. You love to get things done.
  • Organized, understanding that the best way to build something great is through the joint efforts of many people
