Job description

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

Roblox users expect and deserve a modern, standardized and coherent user experience across all platforms we support (mobile, desktop, console, VR, web, etc.). The role of Director of Product, Consumer Frontend is to up-level Roblox UI both directly, with a Core UI team, and, indirectly, through capabilities provided by our Design Systems team. Your goal is to measurably raise the quality of our UI/UX across all surfaces, and unlock greater UI/UX capabilities for the company from a centralized, platform position.

You’ll report to the Senior Director of Product for Apps. This role is based at HQ (no remote option open).

You will:

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Consumer Frontend team which consists of Core UI and Luau architecture and Design System with tooling teams.
  • Be the leader for common UI paradigms in the Roblox Consumer Application, providing thought leadership on Roblox UI for both end users and Creators.
  • Invest heavily in relationship building and stakeholder management in order to drive UI standardization and design system adoption.
  • Help define what success looks like for your teams and measure their progress towards it.
  • Personally PM critical projects when required (hands on PM skills as well as management experience required).
  • Grow the PM skills of the team under you, hire when required, represent your team at external events with Creators.
  • Communicate updates, milestones, and priorities effectively to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in user interface design and gaming to inform product decisions.
  • Research and deploy AI to drive efficiency and innovation at scale.

You have:

  • 10+ years of Product Management experience with expertise in shipping high-quality consumer products across multiple platforms.
  • Experience defining, managing, or driving adoption of design systems, UI platforms or platform-wide UI changes.
  • Expertise in navigating platform product development where internal engineers/designers are your primary customers.
  • Deep experience in internal stakeholder management and alignment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional execution with various teams including engineering, data science, design, marketing, partnerships, legal, and policy, to conceptualize, develop, test, and launch impactful UI changes.
  • Experience running complex, platform-wide AB tests and managing resultant trade-off conversations.
  • The ability to clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from partner teams to executive levels.
  • Strong design sensibilities and a history of strong product to design working relationships.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and effectiveness working closely with engineers. Experience with Luau, similar languages, and/or the React framework would be beneficial but are not required.
  • A passion for gaming and a deep understanding of game UI or multi-platform UI delivery would be beneficial but is not a requirement.

You are:

  • A Product leader with a history of delivering high quality UI/UX work either directly or through a design system.
  • Experienced, with 10+ years of product management experience or equivalent and a history of delivering across multiple platforms at scale.
  • Analytical, with experience running complex AB tests to conclusion.
  • Design-orientated with a passion for high quality user experiences.
  • An excellent communicator and documenter, with fantastic listening, verbal, and written communication skills. You’re at home understanding and communicating an overarching vision at the 30k-foot level and diving into technical specifications, individual tradeoffs, and priorities.
  • Entrepreneurial, having worked in a fast paced environment, with competing resources and priorities, through the product life cycle from planning, development, through to launch and continuing support. You love to get things done.
  • Organized, understanding that the best way to build something great is through the joint efforts of many people.
