Data Developer / Business Intelligence (6-month contract)

The Client:

Our client is a well-established financial services organization that provides investment, advisory, and capital markets services to institutional and private clients. The firm operates in a fast-paced environment and is known for leveraging data and technology to improve financial oversight, operational transparency, and strategic decision-making. They are currently seeking a contract professional to support the final stages of a financial data platform implementation and to enhance internal reporting capabilities.

What you will achieve in this role:

• Support the completion and refinement of an internally developed financial data platform used to manage vendor expenses and allocation processes.
• Review and enhance the existing SQL data structure, including tables, views, and stored procedures, to improve reporting performance and accuracy.
• Implement and manage integrations between financial expense systems and the internal data environment through APIs or automated batch processes.
• Ensure expense and vendor-related data is accurately mapped, validated, and maintained for reporting and analytics.
• Develop and support executive-level dashboards and reporting datasets using business intelligence tools.
• Design data models and calculated metrics to track key financial indicators such as spending trends and vendor cost analysis.
• Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into scalable data solutions.
• Document data structures, integrations, and technical processes to ensure long-term maintainability of the reporting environment.

What you must bring to this role:

• 3–5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Data Developer, or Business Intelligence role.
• Advanced SQL expertise including complex queries, data transformations, and performance optimization.
• Strong experience with Power BI or similar BI tools, including semantic modeling and advanced calculations.
• Experience integrating third-party or enterprise systems using APIs or automated data ingestion processes.
• Exposure to financial or expense management systems and financial data environments.
• Ability to work independently within partially developed systems and evolving project environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities in a deadline-driven setting.
• Experience in financial services, vendor management systems, or market data platforms is considered an asset.
