Overview

In this role, you will use data to understand customer needs and shape how we show products, content, and services across channels. Your work will help strengthen member relationships and support REI’s mission and business goals.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with others, and building solutions that scale. You bring strong technical skills and a thoughtful approach to decision-making.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Define and solve customer personalization and engagement challenges using data science methods
  • Partner with product, marketing, and business teams to guide strategy and align on solutions
  • Build and improve machine learning models for recommendations and customer experiences
  • Lead projects that improve customer experience, engagement, and retention
  • Deploy scalable data solutions that support personalization across channels
  • Advance new ideas while balancing near-term results with long-term growth

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and data modeling
  • Experience delivering large-scale marketing or personalization programs
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data (Snowflake, Oracle, Teradata, Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, Athena)
  • Experience using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence alignment with senior stakeholders
