Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the program manager of NW Campus and working within the NW Adult community clinic (CAMHC- NW), the RN/RPN Case Manager role is a collaborative, person-centered strategy role for the provision of quality health and supportive services through the effective use of available resources in order to support the achievement of client’s goals. Within Addiction and Mental Health, the case managers support a recovery oriented approach and are encouraged to employ critical thinking to creatively plan and implement the most appropriate care in partnership with clients, families, and the multidisciplinary team as well as supervise and evaluate the care provided based on client health outcomes. The case manager also has the skill, expertise and capacity to take a leadership role in providing client-and family centered care across the continuum of health-care experiences and services. The RN/RPN’s scope of practice includes physical and mental status assessments, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating care as well as discharge planning for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring mental health, and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. The RN/RPN provides care throughout the life span in all stages of health and complexities of illness. This position is responsible for communicating with other departments and services, across the Addiction and Mental Health continuum, to ensure the provision of comprehensive, high quality care to promote recovery and wellness. The RN/RPN will facilitate groups on unit. Will also facilitate learning for clients and families including individual and group therapy.
Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone required. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment required. Computer proficiency required. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Minimum 1 year recent nursing experience in community mental health setting required. Working knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in administering the Mental Status examination and knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessments (i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk). Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care and the outpatient services redesign. Working knowledge or experience about the various therapeutic modalities (i.e. CBT, DBT, Supportive therapy, Motivational interview).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge / understanding of DSM-IV and 5 preferred. Certification in NVCI. Up to 3 years experience in Acute care inpatient setting with previous community experience.
