#### Position Description
- LOCATION:**Queen Anne's County, Maryland
**JOB SUMMARY**
Under the direction of the County Administrative Judge and supervision of the Court Administrator and is responsible for working closely with the Jury, Assignment Commissioner, ADR Coordinator overseeing juror assignments, court calendar and the alternative dispute program for the Circuit Court for Queen Annes County.
This position serves at the pleasure and direction of the CircuitAdministrative Judge and will adhere to all Policies and Procedures of both the Maryland Judiciary and Queen Annes County.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
Works closely with the Jury, Assignment Commissioner, ADR Coordinator including being back-up to all responsibilities relating to jury, assignment and ADR.
Provides cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality
Screen potential jurors and determine if potential jurors are qualified for service and determines, based upon review of each individual record, whether a show cause order for failure to appear should be prepared and prepares such orders for the Judges review.
If needed, testifies in court as to the circumstances of their decisions on these matters.
Monitors the daily housing of jurors, issues appearance slips and prepares utilization reports. Maintains files and records relating to jurors.
Performs data entry of pertinent information.
Provides information to jurors in person and via telephone and/or electronic correspondence.
Monitors disbursement of monies to jurors and prepares invoices for state reimbursement.
Works with Judge, Court Administrator and Assignment Commissioner to monitor court calendar and coordinate scheduling of court events with court staff, attorneys, and litigants.
As a back up to the Assignment Commissioner providing scheduling information to attorneys and litigants and facilitates compliance with court policies and Case Management Plan.
Works with Clerk of Court staff, Court Administrator and ADR Coordinator to maintain updated list of approved mediators.
Maintains data relating to schedule of court-ordered mediation.
Prepares reports for the court relating to status of scheduled mediation sessions.
Provides information to mediators in person and via telephone and/or electronic correspondence.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports and legal correspondence.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
Possession of a Class C Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (or the equivalent from another issuing state) or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of employment to the position.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Bachelors Degree preferred, but will consider an associates degree plus 2 years experience in related field.Substantial experience in a related field may substitute for the educational requirement.Administrative experience and computer skills are requisites.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
Light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
Work is generally performed in an office-like setting.Occasionally outside tasks are required on special projects that would result in exposure to general weather conditions.

An employee must serve a period of three months probation during which he or she may be terminated without notice, cause, hearing or right of appeal.
