About the role
Qatar Airways is looking to hire an Aircraft Mechanic for the Engine Shop in Doha, Qatar. In this position, you will support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work on engines and APUs, including BSI support where required by the engine facility’s capability and the assigned scope of work. You will also be expected to uphold tool control, safety, housekeeping, and overall maintenance quality in line with company standards.
What you will do
- Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on engines and APUs, along with BSI support, according to facility capability, work scope, and instructions from the Engineer or Supervisor.
- Make sure you understand the tasks assigned to you and ask for direction whenever a job or area is unfamiliar.
- Work using the latest maintenance information and stay familiar with company documents related to engine maintenance.
- Follow all safety requirements described in manufacturer and company publications while completing scheduled and unscheduled engine maintenance work.
- Keep your assigned tool box updated with the current inventory, return borrowed tools by the end of the shift, ensure all tools and equipment are serviceable, and report any damaged or unserviceable items through the correct TPM process.
- Report incidents or accidents to Engineers or Supervisors as soon as possible.
- Comply with all engine maintenance SOPs and toolbox talks issued by the Engineer or Supervisor.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the engine facility at all times.
- Assist with internal and external AOG recovery tasks when assigned by Engine Facility management.
- Carry out any other duties connected to the role as instructed by the Head of Department.
Qualifications and experience
- A diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, a trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification, or a degree such as B.Eng. or BSc in aircraft engineering, or an equivalent background.
- ICAO Type 2 Basic license with at least 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including apprenticeship time.
- Experience working on engine types used in the Qatar Airways fleet.
- Hands-on exposure to Airbus and Boeing maintenance documentation.
- Experience with engine module removal.
- Experience supporting boroscope inspections.
- Additional advantage if you have worked on V2500, Trent 500, GE CF6-80E1, GE90, GEnx, GP7000, or Trent XWB build-up and maintenance.
- Additional advantage if you have boroscope support experience on V2500, Trent 500, GE CF6-80E1, GE90, GTCP 331-250/350, APS3200, GEnx, or GP7000.
- Experience in engine module removal and installation.
- Prior engine shop experience.

Responsibilities

- Complete any other department-related duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements
- Diploma, trade qualification, vocational qualification, or degree in aircraft maintenance or aircraft engineering, or an equivalent credential.
- ICAO Type 2 Basic license with a minimum of 5 years in aircraft maintenance, apprenticeship included.
- Practical experience with engine types used in the Qatar Airways fleet.
- Working knowledge of Airbus and Boeing technical documentation.
- Experience with engine module removal and installation.
- Ability to support boroscope inspections.
- Exposure to engine shop work.
