Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Insurance Underwriter role based in Thane. The Insurance Underwriter will assess risk profiles for general and life insurance proposals, analyze client information, and determine appropriate coverage terms, premiums, and conditions. The role involves reviewing applications, financial documents, medical or risk reports, and insurer guidelines to make sound underwriting decisions in line with regulatory and internal policies. The Underwriter will collaborate closely with the sales, broking, and client service teams to structure solutions, prepare quotations, negotiate terms with insurers, and support policy issuance and renewals. The position also includes maintaining accurate documentation, monitoring portfolio performance, and contributing to process improvements and underwriting guidelines.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, assess risk, and make structured underwriting decisions.
• Sound understanding of insurance concepts, products, and regulations, preferably across both general and life insurance lines.
• Effective communication skills to interact with clients, insurers, and internal teams, with clear written and verbal presentation abilities.
• Underwriting expertise, including experience evaluating proposals, setting terms and conditions, and balancing risk and profitability.
• Basic to intermediate finance knowledge to review financial statements, assess creditworthiness, and understand premium and loss ratios.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, insurance, commerce, business, or a related field; professional insurance certifications (e.g., III or equivalent) are an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office and comfort working with underwriting tools, portals, and policy management systems.
• High attention to detail, ethical judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
