Job Description
As a Senior Process Engineer at our client, a leading company in the Oil & Gas sector, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, your role will be crucial in optimizing and troubleshooting complex chemical processes within our facilities. You will be responsible for process design, simulation, scale-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in chemical engineering principles, extensive practical experience in the Oil & Gas industry, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. This role requires a hands-on approach, a commitment to safety, and the ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for upstream, midstream, or downstream operations.
- Conduct process simulations and modeling using relevant software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
- Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve process performance.
- Perform hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and other risk assessments to ensure process safety.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and operations staff.
- Write technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment to improve process efficiency and sustainability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior process engineers.
- Monitor process performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical engineering principles and their application in industrial settings.
- Proficiency in process simulation software and engineering design tools.
- Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience with project management is beneficial.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is an advantage.
