Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing operations. Conduct process simulations and modeling to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement. Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Specify and select process equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements. Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to ensure process safety. Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues in chemical plants. Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, yield, and product quality. Ensure all process designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and environmental policies. Manage process engineering aspects of capital projects, from conception through commissioning. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including operations, maintenance, and safety personnel. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for management. Mentor junior chemical engineers and provide technical guidance. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Alberta. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process chemical engineering, preferably in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing sectors. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, CHEMCAD). Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and practices. Experience with PFD and P&ID development and interpretation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Proven project management and leadership capabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Familiarity with **Edmonton, Alberta**'s industrial landscape is advantageous.
