Our client, a prominent manufacturing and industrial leader, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Industrial Engineer to join their team in Kolkata, West Bengal, IN . This critical role focuses on optimizing complex production systems, improving operational efficiency, and implementing best practices in manufacturing processes. The Lead Industrial Engineer will be responsible for analyzing existing operations, identifying areas for improvement, and designing, developing, and implementing solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage engineering projects, and mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate possesses a strong analytical mindset, expertise in process improvement methodologies, and a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the analysis and optimization of manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Design, develop, and implement new production systems, technologies, and methodologies. Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement tools to drive operational excellence. Conduct time and motion studies, capacity planning, and resource allocation analysis. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Lead and manage industrial engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence. Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to identify and implement process improvements. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance and identify areas for further enhancement. Provide technical expertise and guidance on manufacturing engineering challenges. Train and mentor junior industrial engineers and other operational staff on engineering principles and best practices. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed process improvements and capital investments. Ensure all engineering designs and implementations comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Stay current with advancements in industrial engineering, automation, and manufacturing technologies. Develop and manage relationships with external consultants or vendors as needed. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization. Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on manufacturing operations. Proven experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Proficiency in CAD software, simulation tools, and statistical analysis software. Experience with production planning, scheduling, and inventory management systems. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams. Experience in leading cross-functional teams. Familiarity with automation technologies and robotics in manufacturing is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Professional Engineer (PE) certification or relevant industry certifications are desirable. This role is crucial for driving efficiency and innovation in our manufacturing operations.
