Job Description

Our client is looking for a seasoned Logistics Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize their transportation operations in Baltimore, Maryland, US . This is a critical role responsible for the efficient and cost-effective management of a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, fleet maintenance, route planning, and driver supervision. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of fleet operations, from vehicle procurement and maintenance scheduling to fuel management and regulatory compliance. You will lead a team of dispatchers and drivers, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry best practices. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with third-party logistics providers, vendors, and regulatory agencies is also a key part of this role. Key duties include:

Manage the day-to-day operations of a large commercial fleet, ensuring optimal performance and resource allocation. Develop and implement strategies for fleet maintenance, repair, and preventative care to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle lifespan. Oversee driver recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Optimize delivery routes and schedules to improve efficiency and reduce transit times and fuel consumption. Monitor fleet performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement. Ensure all vehicles and operations comply with federal, state, and local transportation regulations. Manage budgets for fleet operations, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and personnel costs. Implement and enforce safety protocols and accident prevention programs. Negotiate contracts with vendors for vehicle acquisition, parts, and maintenance services. Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software to enhance operational oversight. A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar logistics role is essential. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet maintenance best practices, and transportation management software is mandatory. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are necessary. Experience managing a unionized workforce is a plus. The ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing operational demands is critical for this role based in Baltimore, Maryland, US .
