Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their team in Mississauga, Ontario, CA . This role is integral to designing, developing, and optimizing chemical processes for our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting process issues, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, and driving innovation in chemical engineering. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and process control. You will work closely with R&D, operations, and maintenance teams to implement new technologies and improve existing processes. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and sustainability. You will play a key role in scaling up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial production, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Experience with process simulation software and a strong grasp of HAZOP studies and risk assessments are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products. Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict performance and identify improvements. Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and yield. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Lead HAZOP studies and other risk assessment activities for process modifications. Scale up chemical processes from lab to pilot plant and commercial production. Develop process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, and operating procedures. Collaborate with R&D, production, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless process integration. Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies for process enhancements. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. 8+ years of experience in chemical process engineering within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Experience with HAZOP studies and process safety management (PSM). Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex process problems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in project management is a plus. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is preferred.
