Our client is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Lead Process Chemical Engineer to join their established team in **Hamilton, Ontario, CA**. This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes. You will be responsible for overseeing process engineering activities, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of our operations. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to driving innovation within the chemical manufacturing sector. You will work hands-on with process equipment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, scale-up, and troubleshooting of chemical processes. Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Perform mass and energy balance calculations. Specify and select process equipment, including reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, and distillation columns. Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure safety compliance. Optimize existing processes for improved yield, efficiency, and cost reduction. Oversee the implementation of new technologies and process improvements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior chemical engineers. Collaborate with research and development, operations, and maintenance teams. Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical industry. Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat/mass transfer. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD). Experience with P&ID development and hazard analysis techniques. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong project management and leadership skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Professional Engineer (PEO) license in Ontario is required.
This role is based in our **Hamilton, Ontario, CA** facility and requires the engineer to be present on-site to effectively manage and execute project responsibilities.
