Our client, a leader in specialty chemicals manufacturing, is seeking an innovative and experienced Process Development Chemical Engineer to join their core operations team. This role is critical for optimizing existing manufacturing processes and developing new, efficient production methods for cutting-edge chemical products. The position requires a hands-on approach and will be based at our advanced research and manufacturing facility in Hamilton, Ontario, CA .
You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to improve yield, reduce costs, enhance product quality, and ensure safety in chemical processes. This involves utilizing process simulation software, interpreting analytical data, and collaborating closely with R&D scientists, production engineers, and quality control specialists. The ideal candidate possesses strong theoretical knowledge of chemical engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to translate laboratory findings into scalable industrial processes. A commitment to sustainable practices and continuous improvement is essential.
Key Responsibilities: Design and conduct laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to optimize chemical processes. Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and process simulation tools. Develop and scale-up new chemical processes from lab to production. Identify and troubleshoot process inefficiencies, safety concerns, and quality issues. Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless process implementation. Develop process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and batch records. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment for process improvement. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and yield improvement projects. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering and process technology. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in process development or chemical process engineering, preferably in the specialty chemicals industry. Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes. Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Experience with statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects. Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations in chemical manufacturing.
