Senior Agronomist, Sustainable Farming

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Agronomist to join their agricultural research and development team, based in the heart of the agricultural hub of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, IN . This is a field-focused role requiring extensive on-site work, with no remote options. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced agronomic practices to enhance crop yields, improve soil health, and promote sustainable farming techniques. This position involves extensive fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and data interpretation to provide expert recommendations to farmers and agricultural stakeholders. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing challenges related to crop nutrition, pest and disease management, water resource optimization, and soil conservation. The Senior Agronomist will lead research trials, analyze experimental data, and translate findings into practical, actionable advice. You will also be responsible for staying abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural science, technology, and policy, and disseminating this knowledge within the community. This role requires a deep understanding of Indian agricultural systems, diverse crop types, and regional climatic conditions. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute research programs focused on improving crop productivity and sustainability. Conduct field trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming techniques. Analyze soil, plant, and water samples to diagnose issues and recommend solutions. Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to farmers and agricultural businesses. Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and develop integrated management strategies. Promote and implement sustainable farming practices, including organic farming and conservation agriculture. Manage water resources efficiently through best irrigation practices. Collect, analyze, and interpret agronomic data, preparing detailed reports and recommendations. Organize and conduct farmer training programs and workshops. Collaborate with research institutions, government agencies, and NGOs on agricultural development projects. Stay updated on the latest agricultural research, technologies, and market trends. Contribute to the development of long-term agricultural strategies for the region.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in agronomy, with a focus on crop production and sustainable practices. Proven experience in conducting field research and analyzing agronomic data. In-depth knowledge of Indian crops, soil types, and agro-climatic conditions. Strong understanding of integrated pest management (IPM) and soil fertility management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently in field conditions and travel extensively within the region. Proficiency in relevant agricultural software and data analysis tools.
