Our client is seeking a proactive and talented Media Relations Specialist to join their communications team in Brampton, Ontario, CA . This role is pivotal in building and nurturing relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to enhance brand visibility and manage public perception. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the media landscape, exceptional writing and pitching skills, and a proven ability to secure positive media coverage. You will be responsible for developing compelling press releases, media kits, and talking points, as well as identifying story opportunities and proactively pitching them to relevant journalists. This position requires constant monitoring of media trends and current events to identify potential opportunities and risks. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and support broader communication strategies. Experience in crisis communications and the ability to respond swiftly and effectively to media inquiries are essential. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously is crucial. Responsibilities: Develop and implement media relations strategies to achieve communication goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media influencers. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent brand messaging. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging media opportunities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism. Proven success in securing media coverage in various outlets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong pitching and storytelling abilities. Familiarity with media monitoring tools and services. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
