Farm Manager and Agronomy Specialist

Our client, a leading agricultural enterprise in Surat, Gujarat, IN , is seeking an experienced and visionary Farm Manager and Agronomy Specialist to oversee the strategic operations of their expansive farm. This is a pivotal role responsible for maximizing crop yield, ensuring sustainable farming practices, and optimizing resource management. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of modern agronomy, crop science, soil health, pest management, and irrigation techniques. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing crop production plans, from planting to harvest, ensuring efficiency and profitability.

Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of farm operations, including labor supervision, equipment maintenance, and budget control. You will conduct detailed soil analysis and develop fertilization programs tailored to specific crop needs. Pest and disease monitoring and management using integrated pest management (IPM) strategies will be a core function. You will also be responsible for the selection and procurement of seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs. Ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations and promoting sustainable agriculture practices are critical. The role demands strong leadership skills to motivate and guide farm workers, fostering a safe and productive work environment. Data analysis and reporting on farm performance, yield forecasts, and operational costs will be essential. You should be proficient in using farm management software and precision agriculture technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in farm management and agronomy. Proven track record of successful crop production and yield improvement. In-depth knowledge of Indian agricultural practices and local soil conditions in Gujarat. Experience with irrigation systems, farm machinery, and modern agricultural technologies. Strong understanding of soil science, plant nutrition, and pest/disease management. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with agricultural safety regulations and sustainable farming initiatives. Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Proficiency in farm management software and data analysis.
