Our client, a leading agricultural science and consulting firm, is seeking a dedicated Agronomist with a specialization in Soil Health to join their team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US . This role is essential for developing and implementing advanced soil management strategies to enhance crop yield, improve soil fertility, and promote sustainable farming practices across diverse agricultural landscapes. You will work closely with farmers, researchers, and other agricultural professionals to assess soil conditions, diagnose problems, and recommend tailored solutions.
Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed soil analysis, both in the field and in the lab, to evaluate nutrient levels, organic matter content, pH, and other critical parameters. You will develop comprehensive soil management plans that may include recommendations for crop rotation, cover cropping, nutrient management, and reduced tillage practices. This role involves frequent site visits to farms, providing on-site technical support and guidance. You will also be responsible for staying abreast of the latest research and innovations in agronomy and soil science, translating this knowledge into practical applications for growers. The ability to analyze and interpret complex data, and present findings clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written reports, is crucial. Collaboration with R&D teams to test and validate new soil amendments and fertility products will be a key part of your work. Furthermore, you will contribute to educational outreach efforts, conducting workshops and seminars for farmers and agricultural stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses a strong academic background in agronomy or a related field, combined with practical experience in agricultural settings. A deep understanding of soil biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as familiarity with precision agriculture technologies, is highly desirable. This position requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills, along with a passion for advancing sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive field and laboratory soil analyses. Develop and implement tailored soil health management plans. Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to farmers and clients. Monitor crop health and soil conditions, diagnosing issues and recommending solutions. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, soil science, and sustainable farming techniques. Collaborate with research and development teams on new product testing and validation. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations. Conduct workshops and training sessions for agricultural professionals. Promote the adoption of best practices for soil conservation and fertility management. Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in agronomic consulting or agricultural research, with a focus on soil health. In-depth knowledge of soil biology, chemistry, and physics. Experience with soil testing methodologies and interpretation of results. Familiarity with sustainable agriculture practices, cover cropping, and nutrient management. Proficiency in agricultural software and data analysis tools. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel frequently to farm sites. Valid driver's license.
