Job Description
Director, Research & Development & Technical Services
Location: West end GTA
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Health, Beauty, Personal Care, and Home Care industry, is seeking an experienced Director of Research & Development & Technical Services to lead product innovation, formulation development, technical support, and commercialization initiatives.
This leadership role will be responsible for driving new product development, optimizing existing formulations, supporting customer and supplier technical relationships, and providing strategic direction for the R&D function. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams to bring innovative products to market while ensuring quality, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of formulation development and application testing experience within Home Care and/or Personal Care products.
- 5-8+ years of industrial formulation and technical leadership experience, preferably within the Home Care, Personal Care, or Cleaning Products industry.
- Strong knowledge of surfactants, cleaning products, detergents, emulsions, and personal care formulations.
- Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and product commercialization is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product development and formulation projects from concept through commercialization.
- Provide technical leadership and support to customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Drive innovation, product improvements, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Manage and develop the R&D and Technical Services team.
- Support manufacturing scale-up, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Quality, Operations, and Sales to ensure successful product launches.
