Overview

Pivotal Staffing is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our client fast paced Food Production industry in Cambridge, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet the required quality standards before they reach our customers. Your expertise in quality assurance and inspection will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our production processes and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Afternoon Shift: 3:30pm-11:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality inspections and troubleshoot defects in automotive electrical wire harnesses.
  • Accurately read and interpret electrical measurements, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Investigate, document, and report defects and non-conformance issues.
  • Prepare and submit quality reports and claims with clarity and precision.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and international suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
  • Use negotiation and problem-solving skills to facilitate resolution of quality-related matters.
  • Maintain strong relationships with manufacturing partners to ensure quality standards are upheld.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools, including calipers, to assess product dimensions and specifications.
  • Analyze data collected during inspections to identify trends or areas for improvement in the production process.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of quality control activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the product manufactured meets the Company’s finished product quality expectations, as per customer requirements.
  • Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team to ensure all quality and all food safety processes are followed.
  • Perform process checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation, and warehouse functions of the company including GMP, metal detection, label and coding verification, general hygiene, and safety, as well as in process and finished product weights and record on Quality audit report.
  • Complete internal, external and glass and plastic inspections and issue work orders when required.
  • Complete daily Personnel verification record.
  • Work well in a self-paced environment while meeting scheduled quality check expectations.
  • Ensure employees are following proper hygiene procedures and GMP’s, and report deviations to appropriate supervisors
  • ensure proper procedures are being followed during regular, customer specific, organic and allergen changeovers.
  • Perform allergen swabbing verification during changeovers and assist in allergen validation as directed.
  • Ensure process steps are followed, required checks and documentation are completed (e.g., lot numbers, line checks, deviations, corrective actions, label compliance, CCP checks, and proper labelling of WIP and finished goods). Report any deviations to the appropriate team member.
  • Verify that product meets all required specifications for food safety (i.e., appropriate employee handling).
  • Perform daily and weekly chemical concentrations checks.
  • Ensure any non-conforming product is placed on HOLD using the hold and release process. Complete the proper documentation in the appropriate logs and ERP system. Collect samples for further evaluation as needed and report findings to appropriate team member.
  • Collect samples from first production run as requested by R&D/PLM.
  • Perform expired product evaluations.
  • Log, organize, and store retain samples in the designated storage cage, ensuring proper organization by date.
  • Perform flour tailings and flour filter checks.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must have HACCP and Food Safety training.
  • Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially regarding product specifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with QA/QC processes, including data collection and reporting.
  • Understanding of fabrication processes and their impact on product quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members.
