The Parents Council of Washington (PCW) is a non-profit organization established in 1964 to foster communication within the greater Washington, DC independent school community. Our goal is to promote excellence in education by building a network among independent schools and their parent communities. Our membership includes almost sixty independent, dues paying Member Schools, which encompass over 27,000 students. Our unique relationship with our member schools and our outstanding programs place us at the forefront of issues facing the local independent school community.

Role Description

The purpose of the Administrator position is to support the work of the PCW Board of Directors and its Officers, helping to ensure efficient operations and successful implementation of programs.

The Administrator position is a part-time, independent contractor position. It is a majority telecommuting position with hours, Monday through Friday, varying by month but averaging approximately 10-15 hours per week during the school year, with some prep work during the summer.

The Administrator provides ongoing support to the efforts of the PCW Board of Directors and its Officers, ensuring efficient operations of organization and successful implementation of PCW programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for general PCW inquiries and handle day-to-day communications and general information requests.
  • Support Treasurer as required with membership renewal process.
  • Manage PCW event invitations, responses and registration.
  • Manage, update and ensure accuracy of PCW databases. (Constant Contact)
  • Code, file and store materials and documents. (Google Drive)
  • Update website content and collaborate with website consulting firm as needed. (WordPress)
  • Assist with management of PCW social media.
  • Assist with vendor management and provisioning of marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary business/office management experience.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
