Job Summary

Ottawa Flat Roofing Services Inc. is seeking a dependable and physically capable Flat Roofing Labourer to assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of commercial and residential flat roofing systems. This is hard labour. It requires stamina, strength, and consistency. Candidates must be comfortable lifting heavy materials (up to 100 lbs), carrying loads up ladders, working at heights, and performing physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions. This is not light-duty work. We value coachability and work ethic above experience. We are looking for individuals who are willing and eager to learn, follow direction, adopt our systems, and build long-term skills in the roofing trade.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

• Valid G driver’s license
• Personal vehicle for daily transportation to and from job sites (Applicants without their own vehicle will not be considered)
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
• Valid Ontario Working at Heights certificate (required prior to start date)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 lbs
• Comfortable carrying heavy loads up ladders
• Comfortable working at heights
• Able to work long hours on your feet
• Able to work in extreme heat and cold (within legal safety limits)

Work Location & Schedule

• Most projects are in Kanata and Nepean
• Occasionally up to 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa
• Shifts begin at 7:00 AM
• Work is weather-dependent
• Winter hours may be reduced (approximately 10–15 hours per week)
• Summer and peak season hours may exceed 50 hours per week
• Overtime is often available during peak months

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of flat roofing systems (TPO, modified bitumen, torch-on, etc.)
• Tear-offs and surface preparation
• Carry and transport heavy materials and equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe job site
• Follow company safety standards and procedures
• Arrive on time and ready to work
• Accurately clock in and out using company software
• Comply with company GPS/time-tracking systems while on shift

Experience

• Flat roofing experience is an asset
• Construction or general labour experience preferred
• Experience handling heavy materials
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Strong attendance record and reliability are essential
• We prefer candidates who are hardworking, dependable, coachable, and motivated to grow

Compensation

• $22–$28 per hour, depending on experience
• Pay is based on skill level, performance, and work ethic
• Raises available for hardworking and reliable employees
• Performance-based increases after probation
• Company-paid training provided (excluding Working at Heights certification)
