Live‑In Respite Caregiver (CSW / HCA / RCA) – Casual Employee

Role Overview

This is a casual employee position providing short‑term, live‑in respite care to support clients and relieve family caregivers. Assignments vary based on client need and caregiver availability. There is no guaranteed minimum number of shifts.

All assignments include clearly defined working hours, scheduled rest periods, and private accommodation during the placement.

Compensation

• Flat daily rate of $250–$350 per day, based on level of care and experience
• Daily rate is structured to meet or exceed BC Employment Standards requirements
• Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay accrued in accordance with ESA
• Overtime paid if hours worked exceed the agreed schedule
• Payroll deductions for CPP, EI, and income tax apply
• WorkSafeBC coverage provided

Schedule & Living Arrangements

• Casual, short‑term live‑in respite assignments
• Defined active work hours and on‑call periods provided in writing
• Designated rest periods and time off
• Private bedroom provided during assignments
• This role does not require continuous 24/7 active work

Key Responsibilities

• Personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Meal preparation and light household tasks related to the client
• Medication reminders only (no administration unless authorized)
• Companionship and emotional support
• Overnight presence as scheduled
• Observing and reporting changes in client condition
• Maintaining professionalism, dignity, and privacy

Required Qualifications

• Community Support Worker (CSW), Health Care Assistant (HCA), or Resident Care Aide (RCA)
• Relevant experience in home care, residential care, or respite support
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Strong communication skills and professional boundaries
