Role Overview
As a Multi-Specialty Medical Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring coding accuracy, denial prevention, compliance, and revenue optimization across multiple outpatient specialties. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in specialty coding, denial analysis and resolution, and strong Microsoft Excel skills to support reporting, auditing, productivity tracking, and operational analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for professional and outpatient services across multiple specialties.
Review and code encounters for ED, PCP, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Interventional Radiology (IR), and Surgical specialties.
Analyze and resolve outpatient coding denials, underpayments, and payer rejections.
Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, LCD/NCD policies, and payer-specific requirements.
Perform coding audits and support documentation improvement initiatives.
Develop productivity, denial, and operational reports using Microsoft Excel.
Essential Skills & Competencies
ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier expertise.
Strong knowledge of outpatient professional coding and denial management.
Knowledge of Medicare guidelines, NCCI edits, and payer policies.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Certification: CPC, CCS, COC, or equivalent coding credential preferred.
Minimum 2+ years of medical coding experience in outpatient and/or professional fee coding.
Experience handling outpatient denials and payer-specific requirements.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
Experience with EHR systems, practice management systems, and coding software.
