Job Description
You understand that a mine plan only works if the infrastructure behind it does.
You are the kind of engineer who can look beyond individual projects and think about how ventilation, power, dewatering, pumping, materials handling, fixed plant, services and underground development need to come together over the life of an operation.
If you have built your career in underground mining and infrastructure planning, engineering or projects, this is a role where your thinking will help shape how a major underground asset develops over time.
This is a senior technical role with genuine influence. You will work across a complex underground environment where infrastructure decisions are central to safety, operability, capital efficiency and long-term asset value.
What you will be doing
You will lead and support long-range infrastructure planning across a substantial underground operation, helping ensure the asset has the right enabling systems in place to support its future direction.
Your work will include:
- developing and refining underground infrastructure plans aligned to the broader mine plan and asset strategy
- assessing requirements for key underground systems including ventilation, electrical, pumping, dewatering, services, materials handling and related infrastructure
- supporting trade-off decisions around timing, sequencing, capacity, risk and capital allocation
- working closely with mining, geology, projects, operations and technical teams to ensure infrastructure plans are practical, integrated and executable
- contributing to studies, options analysis and investment decisions tied to the future development of the operation
- translating technical and engineering inputs into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
This is not a site delivery or maintenance role. It is a role for someone who enjoys thinking ahead and solving the infrastructure questions that determine whether an underground operation can grow and perform over time.
What you will bring
You are likely already working in underground infrastructure, projects, planning or technical services, and you understand how enabling infrastructure shapes the success of an operation.
You will bring:
- a degree in Engineering, likely Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, Civil or a related discipline
- experience in underground hard rock mining environments
- exposure to underground infrastructure planning, engineering, capital projects or technical studies
- an understanding of how infrastructure decisions connect to mine development, production readiness, operational performance and asset value
- the ability to work across functions and influence technical and operational decisions at a senior level
- sound judgement, technical credibility and a practical approach to long-range problem solving
Experience across multiple infrastructure systems will be highly regarded, particularly where you have had to think in an integrated way rather than within a single discipline silo.
What the role offers
This role offers the chance to move into a position where your work has visibility, influence and long-term consequence.
You will have the opportunity to:
- shape the infrastructure direction of a significant underground asset
- work on complex, high-value engineering questions with real strategic importance
- partner with experienced technical, operational and project leaders
- contribute to studies and decisions that directly affect the future development of the operation
- build a role and lifestyle in a semi-remote Canadian setting suited to people who value substance, community and proximity to the operation over a major city base
This position will appeal to candidates already in Canada, or genuinely open to relocating for the right engineering challenge and lifestyle.
If you are ready to move beyond individual infrastructure projects and into a role where you can influence how an underground operation develops over the long term, this is worth a conversation.
